Review: Sega Rally Online Arcade

Sega Rally Online Arcade brings intense adrenaline pumping arcade racing to Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners.  The original Sega Rally was developed in 1994 and is considered by many to be the best arcade racing game of all time.  Sega followed that up with Rally 2, 3, and Revo sequels. Now here comes Rally Online, does this sequel live up to the tradition of past Sega racers or does it need to spend more time in the garage?

Sega Rally Online is not a true sequel but more of a love child between Rally 3 and Revo, having this heritage means game play is simple, easy to get into, and most importantly fun.  Gamers of all skill levels will quickly find themselves speeding around muddy tracks, jumping over hilly terrains, and power sliding snowy corners, all while battling 21 computer controlled drivers for the championship. Graphics are crisp and colorful, with cars accurately modeled after real life rally automobiles.  The track design is wonderful with all sorts of environmental effects that impact your racing ability.

If Rally has a flaw it lies in it's content or should I say lack of content.  There are only 5 tracks and 13 cars, but Rally does offer several race modes like time attack and quick race to extend it's replayability.  It's most enjoyable mode is multiplayer, as you try to leave up to 5 human opponents eating your dust online.

To conclude Sega's newest offering is an exciting mud slinging racer that proudly follows in the Sega Rally tradition.  Even though it's a short ride it's a great game for either PS3 or XBOX 360 owners looking for racing fun.
